9 Oct 2013

Local MP Tim Farron backing a bid by Lib Dem Councillor Giles Archibald for Kendal town centre to be a free wi-fi zone with people able to log on through smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Giles raised the proposal at Monday's Kendal Town Council meeting.

Tim said: "I am passionate to help Kendal and work with businesses to explore every opportunity possible. We could this opportunity to really back our town and also let people know what's going on.

"If you log on anywhere in the town centre you could get a welcome screen that tells you what's on today, where the good offers are to be found and where the goods you're seeking can be found or ordered from. This could only help local businesses."
