Are you getting your warm home discount? Asks Farron
South Lakes MP Tim Farron is reminding constituents to check their energy bills to make sure they are receiving Warm Home discount if they are entitled to it.
Tim said: "As the weather has got much colder in the last few weeks, I hope older residents will check their entitlement to Warm Home discount.
"Older people who are entitled to the discount should have received a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions before the winter. But it seems that if your circumstances change and you are no longer entitled, they don't write to tell you that you've had the discount removed. So if you've had Warm Home discount in the past but have not been told you qualify for it this year, please check your bills carefully."
Warm Home Discount is a reduction of £135 from fuel bills if on 20 July 2013 your supplier was part of the scheme, your name (or your partner's) was on the bill and you were either:
- 75 or over and getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (even if you get Savings Credit)
- Under 75 and only getting the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit (you won't qualify if you also get Savings Credit)
