Al Gore Film Shows at Shakespeare Centre, Kendal
Al Gore's Oscar winning documentary 'An Inconvenient Truth' is to be screened for one night only at the Shakespeare Centre, Kendal, this Friday 9th March at 7.30 p.m. Admission is free and the event has been organised by the local Liberal Democrat party to highlight climate change and the impact it is having on the environment. In the documentary, Al Gore passionately exposes misconceptions and myths regarding global warming and surmises that humanity is on a ticking time bomb.
Tim Farron MP said:
"Climate change is increasingly becoming an issue nationally and internationally. What I like about this event is that climate change will be discussed at a local level, together with possible solutions; again at a local level. The organisers of the evening aren't looking to solve the world's climate change challenges; but they are seeing the overall picture and the part they need to play in it to reverse climate change."
The screening of the film is to be followed by a discussion led by Edward Acland, a local environmental activist. Views of the film will be discussed, as will possible solutions to climate change. A meal is also on offer at the price of £5.00 and will be served at 6.30pm. Contact Barbara Studholme on 01539 720 497 for further details.
