South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today reopened a popular Kendal newsagents following its closure due to flood damage.

Burrell's Newsagents, on Longpool, had been closed for refurbishment work to fix damage caused by the floods of Storm Desmond last winter. Tim cut the ribbon to reopen the shop at a celebration with the shop owners and members of the community.

Tim said: "It was fantastic to see yet another local shop back on its feet after the devastating floods of last winter. I have been massively inspired by the grit and determination which our community has shown in fighting back from the floods - this is yet another example of this. The reopening of Burrell's Newsagents is great news for the local community, and I wish the owners the best of luck."
