South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the ‘massive step forward’ in the long running campaign to bring back the play equipment to the Hallgarth estate in Kendal. Tim has thanked local councillor Matthew Severn for all of his hard work on the issue.

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that work has started to build a new play area on the Hallgarth estate in Kendal.

Work has started on improving the Kendal play area and recreational space, following a long campaign by residents. Developments at Hallgarth Park will include a new outdoor gym-style area, a toddler and junior playground and an area for teenagers. The Hallgarth Community Centre Association and South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) are spending £55,000 on rejuvenating Hallgarth Park.

Tim said: "This is fantastic news and I want to pay tribute to everyone involved in this campaign. I know how much the children on the estate missed the play area and speaking to parents, I know how valuable a facility it was. I cannot wait until the work is finished."
