Win for local residents as work at Cross-a-Moor gets green light

29 Dec 2017

South Lakes residents have expressed their delight as Highways England give the green light to work at Cross-a-Moor on the A590.

Local Lib Dem county councillor Janet Willis has been at the forefront of the campaign to improve the junction and make it safer.

Work at Cross-a-Moor has been supported by South Lakeland District Council, who made a grant towards the scheme. Janet has also helped to secure support and funding from the county council and local enterprise partnership.

The district council have also restricted developers from starting on some new housing schemes in the area until work on the junction has been completed.

Janet said: "This is fantastic news, and I'd like to thank everyone who supported the campaign to improve the junction.

"I know many local residents find it difficult to turn out onto the A590 at the junction, and with a number of new developments proposed in the area, improvements to the junction are badly needed.

"I'll keep pushing Highways England to make sure work starts soon, and the new junction is completed as soon as possible."
