‘Warm words and hashtags are not enough’ - Farron urges MPs to vote to protect UK food and farming standards on Monday
South Lakes MP Tim Farron is calling on MPs from all parties to vote to protect British farmers from being undermined in trade negotiations.
The Government's Agriculture Bill returns to the House of Commons on Monday when MPs will have the chance to vote on amendments which would require any food products imported under future trade deals to meet UK standards.
Ahead of the vote, Tim will attend a Save British Farming demonstration in Parliament Square.
Tim said: "Monday will be the most important day for British farming possibly in my lifetime.
"The future of farming in this country and our world class standards agricultural, food and environmental standards are at risk.
"Warm words and hashtags in support of British farming from politicians will mean absolutely nothing unless they vote in favour of amendments to protect our food and farming standards."
