On Friday evening South Lakeland MP Tim Farron officially opened Artfest North, an art fair held at Kendal Town Hall.

The event saw over 60 artists from all over the country come to Kendal to display and sell their work. The artists included painters, printmakers, ceramicists, photographers, textile and mixed media artists.

The event was officially opened by Tim on Friday night, and was open to the public over the Saturday and Sunday.

Tim said: "It was a pleasure to open Artfest North, and to see such a fantastic event take place here in Kendal. It is testament to the quality of the art on display that people had travelled from across the country to visit this art fair.

"Events such as Artfest North help to cement South Lakeland's reputation as a leading rural cultural destination. This not only enriches our area but helps to attract tourists and jobs. My thanks go to the district council for the support they gave to this event."
