'Time to talk about mental health', urges Farron

2 Feb 2017

On 'Time to Talk' Day (today, 2nd February), South Lakeland MP Tim Farron has urged the public to start a conversation about mental health issues and help break down the stigma surrounding this topic.

In a video posted online, Tim insists that it is "time to take mental health seriously", pointing out that one in four people struggle with mental health conditions.

Tim said: "Mental Health issues affect so many of us, yet there is still a stigma about talking about it. Today is an opportunity to change that, and start a conversation that could change lives. It could just be taking the time to ask someone how they are, meaning it, and sticking around to listen properly to the answer. Together, we can help to break down the shameful taboo about discussing something that affects so many people."
