Thousands secured for local arts and community projects - Farron

Tim Farron and Chris Hogg - Culture, Arts and Events Portfolio Holder at South Lakeland District Council - have announced a series of grants for local arts and community projects worth £170,400.

Tim said: "From the Citizens Advice Service to the Hydrotherapy pool at Sandgate School this funding will help so many community groups and good causes to continue the wonderful work they do in our area. I'd delighted to be able to announce this package of funding for so many great organisations."

County Councillor for the Kent Estuary Ian Stewart commented on the news Arnside and Silverdale AONB funding and said: "This funding will help to continue to support this valuable local body."

Chris Hogg Culture, Arts and Events Portfolio Holder at South Lakeland District Council further added: "I am delighted that due to careful management of budgets we are able to maintain our grants budget which have been crucial to key service such as the Citizen Advice Bureau. We are also able to support events, festivals and arts organisations which add so much to the quality of life in South Lakeland."

The following good causes, community organisations and arts groups have received funding:

  • Old Laundry Theatre Theatre programme £1,750
  • Ulverston Lantern Festival Ulverston Lantern festival £500
  • Ulverston Music Festival Ulverston Music Festival £1,500
  • Westmorland Music Trust Mary Wakefield Festival £500
  • Westmorland Orchestra 71st and 72nd concert seasons £500
  • Westmorland Youth Orchestra Orchestra Youth Club £800
