SOUTH LAKES MP WELCOMES GRANGE LIDO RESTORATION

Today, Tim Farron MP has welcomed the announcement that work is to begin on the restoration of the Grange Lido and promenade.

The work, due to begin next week, has been prompted after more than 30 years of campaigning by local activists, the Save Grange Lido group, and Liberal Democrat Councillors in the area.

The art deco structure and promenade has been out of commission for over three decades but new funding from South Lakeland District Council will allow work to begin.

Speaking this morning Tim said: "I am hugely grateful to all the campaigners, especially the Save Grange Lido group, who have tirelessly worked to reach this point.

"The Lido and promenade will be a huge boost to the Grange community and surrounding areas when it is reopened, and it will be amazing to see such a beautiful structure restored to its original state."
