Last week local MP Tim Farron presented Molly Straughton-Lowe, a pupil at Grange primary school with a book token and a certificate at a school assembly after her design was selected as the winner of Tim's Christmas card competition.

Molly, aged 8, has Rett syndrome and made her card design using her eye gaze technology, with the help of her teaching assistant.

Dougal Houston of Levens primary school came second in the competition, whilst third place went to Ola Slawik from Dean Gibson School in Kendal.

All participants will receive certificates, with the winner and runners up being awarded book tokens.

Tim said: "I had great fun choosing the winner but it was not an easy decision!

"Molly has done such a wonderful job in producing this great piece of artwork and I'm delighted that her design was seen and admired by residents across the South Lakes over Christmas.

"I want to say a massive thanks to everyone who took part in the competition, and the teachers, teaching assistants and parents who helped them along the way."
