South Lakes MP calls for Government to subsidise 75% of wages to protect workers from Coronavirus impact
Speaking ahead of a Government announcement on the plan to protect worker's incomes, local MP Tim Farron said: "All the local businesses I've been speaking to on the phone this morning are massively fearful that they are going to go under within the next few days.
"As a result, they are hugely concerned about how they and their employees will be able to continue to afford to put food on the table.
"The Government should follow Denmark's lead and agree to subsidise 75% of wages for companies hit by Coronavirus.
"This would not only provide confidence about the future of their income but would also mean people are far more likely to be able to concentrate on the health advice and stay at home and stay safe."
