Liberal Democrats in South Lakeland have moved to introduce more parking for local residents and visitors in Kendal.

Liberal Democrats on Cumbria County Council have announced that the car park at County Hall, which is currently only available to council staff, will soon be available to the general public.

This will add 330 more vital car parking spaces in the town centre.

Local councillor Peter Thornton said: "Making more spaces available for people to park their cars is crucial to the local economy.

"Today's announcement will open up a convenient car park for the town centre."
