South Lakeland Leads The Way In New Businesses - Farron
South Lakeland MP Tim Farron has praised the "entrepreneurial vibrancy" of South Lakeland, as the latest statistics show that it is leading the way on the creation of new businesses in Cumbria.
The latest figures show that, with 117 start-ups in the last quarter, South Lakeland had the highest number of business start-ups of any area in Cumbria. This figure equates to 25% of all the business start-ups in Cumbria.
South Lakeland also had 1058 start-ups per 10,000 of working age population. This was the highest rate of any area of Cumbria.
The highest number of start-ups across Cumbria were in real estate, professional services & support activities, followed by the construction industry and then recreational, personal & community services.
Tim said: "Once again, we see South Lakeland leading the way when it comes to creating new start-ups. It is testament to the fantastic entrepreneurial vibrancy of our area that so many local people are choosing to set up new businesses. This not only contributes to our economy, but helps to provide employment opportunities to people in our area. Small businesses are the beating heart of our local economy, and this looks set to continue."
