Reacting to the news that on the day that they tried reintroducing full services on the two South Cumbrian railways lines, Northern have cancelled 7 trains already this morning on the Furness Line, local MP Tim Farron said:

"We said last week that this had all the hallmarks of Northern biting off more than they can chew and sadly we've been proved right.

"The Government seem obsessed with giving their mates at Northern a chance, despite the fact they're completely incapable of running the Lakes and Furness lines at the same time.

"Instead, why not actually give passengers a chance of a reliable train service?

"As local support continues to grow for a Cumbrian micro-franchise, its clear Northern's time is up."
