MP wins bus campaign!

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that Stagecoach are going to resume the bus link between Arnside and Westmorland General Hospital.

When the Conservative-led County Council put the bus routes up for tender, they allowed the routes to be changed. Campaigners argued that this was too long a journey for sick people to undertake.

Following a long running campaign by Tim, Stagecoach have now agreed to re-schedule the 552 bus to include a stop at Westmorland General on a trial basis, stopping visitors to the hospital from having to get an extra bus from Kendal.

Tim said: "Working with local residents and Stagecoach we have been able to make sure that this vital bus link is reinstated. This has been a real community campaign to protect our vital bus routes and this is another major success.

"Our rural bus routes are vital links for many villages in South Lakeland and I will keep fighting to defend them."
