South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that residents in Milnthorpe will still have a police presence in the area.

Cumbria's Police and Crime Commissioner has opened a new operational policing base at Lane Farm, Milnthorpe. This comes months after the police closed a series of police desks and modified hours. Local residents asked Tim to lobby about the issue and he has welcomed the news that the police have listened.

Commenting, Tim said: "Months after the Police closed the front desk, they have now looked at this again and decided to bring a service back. That is welcome news for local residents and I want to thank them for their support and campaigning on this issue. I will continue to press the case for a greater police presence to be brought back to local communities."
