MP welcomes Leonard Cheshire’s decision to save Holehird

27 Jul 2011

South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed the news that Leonard Cheshire has decided to keep their Holehird centre.

The news was announced at Holehird's 50th birthday event yesterday. The centre has been under threat of closure for many years and Tim has been fighting with the local community to keep it open.

Holehird provides services and care for physically disabled adults and nursing places for 30 people. The centre provides important respite care for families in beautiful surroundings.

Tim said: "Going to the event yesterday was a great celebration and allowed people to say thank you to the hard-working staff. When I heard that Holehird's future had been secured it was a fantastic birthday present. Another long-running community campaign has ended successfully and I am delighted that the centre's long term future is more secure."
