MP welcomes homeless link manifesto
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has welcomed a report created by charity Homeless Link about their ideas for the next government to end homelessness. Tim has called the report a 'crucial contribution'.
Homelessness link's manifesto calls on the next government to take action on five key areas: rough sleeping, employment, housing, support for people with the most complex needs, and long-term strategy. It sets out practical steps that will enable homelessness services to innovate and support people who become homeless to thrive.
Tim said: "We cannot consider ourselves a fair society unless we try to help those who have been dealt an unfair deal in life. No one grows up thinking "I want to be homeless" but the sad truth is that many people find themselves in situations where that seems like the only option. Lib Dems want to solve the housing crisis properly, for everybody - this means building up to 300,000 homes each year. But these homes must not just focus on vote-winning parts of the population: we need a good home for everybody. We need to end homelessness. Homelessness link's manifesto is a crucial contribution to helping us working together to do this."
