MP welcomes Government U-turn on A-Level and GCSE results

17 Aug 2020

Commenting on the news that A-level and GCSE students will be given grades estimated by their teachers, rather than by an algorithm, South Lakes MP Tim Farron said: "This is a very welcome U-turn from the Government - but it really shouldn't have taken all this time for them to wake up to the reality of the mess they have created.

"The Government's incompetence has led to severe distress and anxiety for young people and their families over this past week.

"What's important now is that the Government provide the clarity and support that young people need so they are able to go and study at the university that had originally offered them a place off the back of all their hard work."
