South Lakes MP Tim Farron has been to the site of the Greenodd roundabout to see the progress of the work.

The roundabout is costing an estimated £2.2M, using funding secured by Tim, other MP's and local campaigners.

Tim visited the site today with local campaigners, parish councillors and Greenodd's County Councillor Janet Willis. There have been 284 accidents on the A590 within South Lakeland over the past five years - eight of them fatal and 33 of them serious.

Following a number of serious and fatal accidents there, a campaign was started calling for safety improvements.

Tim said: "It was great to meet with local campaigners, thank them for their efforts and see the progress that has been made. This roundabout will make a big difference and will help save lives. We campaigned for a long time to make this happen and it was great to see the work being done on the site."
