South Lakes MP Tim Farron has written to the Prime Minister calling for him to halt UK exports of tear gas and rubber bullets to the USA following fears they are being used on unarmed protestors.

Tim said: "The murder of George Floyd is a disgraceful injustice and a tragedy for his family and for America as a whole.

"And now on top of that we see the deeply disturbing scenes of unarmed civil rights protestors in America being met with brutal force by the police.

"The UK Government must not turn a blind eye when it comes to the violation of human rights and tackling racism.

"That's why I've written to the Prime Minister demanding the strongest possible response , to condemn the excessive force used by US police officers attacking unarmed protestors and to suspend the sales of British tear gas, rubber bullets, and riot shields to the USA."
