South Lakes MP Tim Farron is urging local residents to take part in Post Office Ltd's consultation over the future of Kendal Post Office which has been officially launched today.

Over 3,500 residents have signed Tim's petition against the plans to move the post office to the WHSmith store in Stricklandgate.

Speaking this morning, Tim said: "It is clear that local residents are not in favour of this move.

"It's no wonder that's the case given the small size of the WHSmith store and the lack of accessibility.

"When we pull together as a community, we can take on London-based bureaucrats and win.

"That is why it's so important that everyone takes part in the consultation and makes their voice heard."
