MP to run Coniston 14 for local cancer charity
Later this month, South Lakes MP Tim Farron will take on the Coniston 14 road race to raise money for CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
It will be Tim’s first running event for five months, after sustaining a knee injury last year.
CancerCare, who are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, are an independent, local charity supporting people affected by cancer and bereavement in north Lancashire and south Cumbria, with centres in Barrow, Kendal, Lancaster, and Morecambe.
In 2023 alone the charity supported over 2,000 clients, ranging from the ages of three to 101, offering a range of support to people affected by cancer.
Tim said: “After being out with a knee injury, I’m chuffed to be fit in time to take on the magnificent Coniston 14.
“It’s a brilliantly organised local race, in one of the most beautiful settings you could wish for.
“I’m proud to be running to raise funds for CancerCare, who do incredible work supporting people dealing with cancer and their loved ones.”
Claire Mason, Head of Fundraising and Marketing from CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria said: “We’re so thrilled to have the continued support of MP Tim Farron, and wish him every success with his upcoming race.
“As a charity, more than 90% of our income comes from people who take part in fundraising events, make donations, or leave us a gift in their will, so it’s vital for us to have support from people within our local community.
“Thank you Tim!”
