MP slams Barclays for throwing South Lakes communities under a bus
Commenting on the news that Barclays are taking away the ability for their customers to withdraw money from local post offices, South Lakes MP Tim Farron said:
"By stopping customers from being able to withdraw money from their local post office branch, Barclays is throwing our local communities under a bus - especially after closing branches in towns like Milnthorpe, Grange, Ambleside, Coniston and Sedbergh.
"This undermines the post office network, damages the communities they are at the heart of and of course seriously disadvantages Barclays customers, especially older ones at a time when we are seeing public transport cuts which makes it even harder for them to do physical banking.
"I will be writing to the Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom and Barclays CEO Jes Staley demanding that Barclays change their position immediately."
