MP shares his excitement ahead of national parks week
South Lakes MP Tim Farron is encouraging everyone in his constituency to get involved in National Parks Week-whether they live inside the Lake District National Park or not.
National Parks Week takes place from 28 July-3 August, and celebrates the diverse and varying environments found in our national parks and the great opportunities they provide for leisure, relaxation, exercise and learning.
The National Parks are known for being superb landscapes, rich in heritage and wildlife, but they are also valuable generators of wealth and economic activity-95 million people visit the Parks annually and they add up to £6bn to the national economy
And of course, the Lake District National Park is a home to many people.
Tim said: "Thousands of my constituents live in the Lake District National Park, but I know full well that they don't take it for granted-it's a privilege to live in such an absolutely beautiful and invigorating environment.
"The National Park will be hosting a huge range of events during National Parks Week, and I really want to encourage everyone to take part and make this year's National Parks Week the best ever.
"Whether you fancy doing, there's plenty to do for everyone-all ages welcome."
A full list of events is available on the National Parks Week website.
