South Lakeland MP Tim Farron cut the ribbon on Friday to officially reopen the Bridge Hotel in Kendal, which had been closed due to the floods.

The Bridge Hotel was forced to close after being badly flooded in December as a result of Storm Desmond. However, the pub is now open for business once more having undergone an extensive refurbishment since the closure. At the reopening on Friday, Tim and other guests sampled food from the new menu on offer at the pub.

Tim said: "It's great to see that the Bridge Hotel has not just reopened its doors following the devastating flooding, but has come back better than before thanks to the refurbishment. The Bridge Hotel is a fantastic pub in the heart of Kendal, with a relaxed atmosphere and great food - I'd recommend a visit!"
