South Lakes MP Tim Farron yesterday pressed Government Ministers to offer a 'better deal' for tenants in private rented properties.

In the Commons yesterday, Tim asked the Housing Minister: "Families in private rented accommodation have as much right to a decent home as anybody else, so will the Minister bring forward a new deal which will ensure that families in private rented homes can look forward to more predictable rents, longer-term tenancies and better standards?"

Commenting, Tim said: "Many families come to see me at my advice surgeries and tell me about a small minority of landlords that fleece the system. I asked a question yesterday to try and get a better deal for all tenants who privately rent. The Government need to do more to make sure that local people see more predictable rents, longer-term tenancies and we need to work to increase standards."
