MP presents Arnside Primary School with Fairtrade status
Local MP Tim Farron has visited Arnside National CE Primary School to present the school with a certificate marking their Fairtrade status. He was then put through his paces by the pupils during a wide-ranging Q&A.
Tim spoke to the whole school in an Assembly, before meeting with the student council to face questions. Tim was asked about everything from the importance of Fairtrade and the future of local health services through to his role as MP and meeting the Queen.
Tim also presented the school with a certificate awarding them Fairtrade status. The school has been looking at the issue of Fairtrade and why it matters throughout Fairtrade Fortnight 2017, which runs from the 27th February until the 12th March. Local campaigners have also visited the school to give an assembly about Fairtrade and the difference it makes.
Tim said: "It was great to visit Arnside National Primary School, and to present them with their Fairtrade status. It was clear from the thoughtful questions they asked that they had thought a lot about what Fairtrade meant. The Q&A also showed they cared about the area they live in and the challenges that are faced, such as the future of the NHS. The students were interested and enthusiastic, and were a credit to themselves and the school."
