MP praises local students at Awards Evening
Local MP Tim Farron has praised the achievements of local students at the Queen Katherine School Annual Awards evening last week.
Tim attended the ceremony, which saw pupils receive their GCSE certificates as well as subject awards and special awards, alongside Mayor of Kendal Stephen Coleman.
The event also included music by student Laurie Hurley and a speech by Year 12 student Khan Durnell. Particularly noteworthy were the achievements of Callum Atherton, who won the Head of Year award, Katie Richardson who won the Head of School award, and Paige Durnall who won the Headteacher's Award. Ellie Moore was the inaugural winner of the Anne Thompson award, set up this year in memory of Anne Thompson who had taught at the school for over 20 years and sadly passed away in 2015.
Tim said: "It was a privilege to be invited along to this year's QKS Awards Ceremony, and to celebrate the fantastic achievements of local pupils. I have been along to QKS many times and have seen the hard work and dedication that pupils, teachers and parents put in, and the Awards ceremony was a well-deserved recognition of this. I would like to congratulate all the students, and wish them every success for the future."
