South Lakes MP Tim Farron yesterday visited Levens Primary School, alongside local councillor Annie Rawlinson, to see the work the students have been doing around the issue of speeding.

Tim and Annie met with students and heard their concerns about speeding, as well as being shown posters that the students had designed. The students also set up a mock parliament in the school hall, and held a debate on the 20 mile an hour speed limit. Tim and Annie also took questions on this and a range of other topics.

Tim said: "Annie and I had a fantastic visit to Levens Primary School. We discussed the role of both local and national politics, and it was good to hear the students' views. The pupils showed great enthusiasm for their projects, in particular the work they had been doing about speeding. It was wonderful to see how much the students cared about their community, and their determination to make a positive difference."
