South Lakes MP Tim Farron really was in the pink when he showed his support for a Breast Cancer Campaign fundraising event.

The charity's "wear it pink" day is going ahead on Friday, October 25. Tim sported snazzy pink pint shirt and a rosette to support the campaign.

The MP said the fundraising day has collected a whopping £23 million over the past 10 years.

Now he is encouraging people to give their backing to this year's event to raise vital funds for life-saving research.

Tim said: "Every year in the UK, around 50,000 women and around 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, 12,000 women and 80 men die from this disease.

"I would urge as many people as possible to do their bit and support Wear it Pink day on October 25 to help raise valuable funds for breast cancer research."

To register for "wear it pink" and receive a fundraising pack, see www.wearitpink.org or call 0800 107 3104.
