Local MP Tim Farron has taken part in a project organised by the Kendal Oral History Group, which aims to record the experiences of local people affected by the floods of December 2015.

Tim was interviewed by the group both about his personal experiences of the flood, such as losing his car, as well as his involvement with the wider South Lakeland community at this time through his work as an MP.

Tim said: "The floods last winter were devastating for our area. However, although it is important that we document the terrible impact of the floods themselves, there are also other aspects of this time which we should record. In many ways, the floods showed our community at its finest, as it rallied around to help out those who were in need, and look after those who had lost everything. Alongside the accounts of destruction caused by the floods, we must also remember the inspiring stories of individual acts of kindness and generosity which helped many people through this time. I wish the Kendal Oral History Group the best of luck with their important project."
