South Lakeland MP Tim Farron is encouraging local groups to consider applying for a grant from a bank

RBS has put £2.5million towards the scheme, designed to give disadvantaged people access to skills and opportunities to help them get on in life. Grants are available to charities, social enterprises, community groups, state-funded schools and colleges.

Applications are currently open until midday on the 9th September. Grants up to a maximum of £35,000 can be applied for. To find out more information and apply to this fund, visit: http://skillsandopportunitiesfund.rbs.co.uk/

Tim said: "There are a huge number of charities and community groups across South Lakeland that do fantastic work. I'd encourage them to take a look at this scheme and, if they are eligible, to consider applying for a grant."
