Local MP Tim Farron has praised the efforts of pupils from Heron Hill Primary School after they won a national award for their work beekeeping.

The pupils travelled down to London to be presented with the 'Bees Needs' award by the Department for the Environment.

Following their success, the children were given a guided tour of Parliament by Tim where they were able to quiz their MP on a range of environmental issues.

Tim said: "Bees are under-threat and are really important to the diversity of our plant life, and therefore crucial to protecting our environment.

"The pupils at Heron Hill Primary School are national leaders in caring for bees and caring for the plants that bees depend upon.

"I'm really proud of them all!"
