On Sunday, South Lakes MP Tim Farron completed the London Marathon to raise money for local charity the Brathay Trust.

Tim has so far raised £4,794 for the charity, who provide outreach programmes to help build confidence and resilience in young people.

Tim completed the landmark race in 4 hours, 44 minutes and 44 seconds.

After crossing the finishing line, Tim said: "It was an incredible experience to run a marathon for the first time. It turns out that 26 and a bit miles is a really long way.

"But the training in the glorious surroundings of South Cumbria has paid off, and I'm now looking forward to doing the Coniston 14 on Saturday!

"I'm unbelievably grateful to everyone who has encouraged me, supported me and sponsored me.

"The work that Brathay do in improving the lives of young people is truly inspiring and I'm so proud to have run the London Marathon for them."

People can still donate to Brathay by heading to Tim's JustGiving page here.
