MP calls on residents to get involved in Barbon Post Office consultation
Tim Farron MP is calling on local residents to get involved in a consultation run by the Post Office regarding the proposals for a Hosted Outreach Service to be run from Barbon Village Hall.
In October 2012, the Barbon Post Office Branch was closed due to the retirement of the subpostmaster. Following that closure, the Post Office has proposed the establishment of a Hosted Service in its place by a subpostmaster from Sedbergh.
The proposals detail that the same services will be available in the new post office as was the case with the old post office, with the addition of DVLA and Euro on Demand Bureau de Chang facilities. The proposed service will be run from Barbon Village Hall, on a Monday, 14:00-16:00. Customers will still be able to collect benefits in cash using everyday banking services or a Post Office card account.
The consultation is running from December 11th 2012 to February 1st, 2013 and all correspondence regarding the proceedings can be sent by post 'FREEPOST PO Consultation', by email at 'consultation@postoffice.co.uk', or by phone on '0845 22 33 44'.
Tim says: ''The post office was an integral part of community life in Barbon. It is vital that the new service meets local needs. I hope that local residents really get involved and make sure they are heard over the outreach plans."
