The Liberal Democrats have chosen Levens resident, local businesswomen and community campaigner Annie Rawlinson to fight the Levens ward in the South Lakeland District Council by-election on 17th October.

The contest is likely to be a straight fight between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives. Annie is also a charity fundraiser and campaigner.

Annie has lived in Levens for 16 years. Annie is standing to replace Mary Orr, who recently resigned from South Lakeland District Council following medical advice.

Tim Farron said: "Annie will make a fantastic representative for the area. She has spent years running a successful local business and is deeply imbedded in local community life. She will be the perfect replacement for Mary on the council."
