Lib Dems increase majority on Kendal Town Council

Liberal Democrats have increased their number of councillors on Kendal Town Council last week from 25 to 26.

Last week's local elections saw the party win all but two seats on the council.

Kendal Town Councillor for the Kendal Castle ward Eamonn Hennessy said: "I'm really humbled that so many people have once again put their faith in our Lib Dem team to represent them on the Town Council.

"With the district and county council set to be replaced with one big council covering an area which runs from Alston to Walney island, the role of local town and parish councils is going to become even more important.

"We're looking forward to cracking on with the job, whether it's supporting local food share schemes and repair cafes, working on a Dark Skies Project to reduce light pollution and aid biodiversity, or working to introduce 20mph zone to reduce emissions, improve air quality and make our town safer."
