Lib Dem leader Sir Vince Cable visited the Mintworks in Kendal yesterday to take part in a Q&A with over 60 local businesses.

The event, which was organised by Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, saw both the former Business Secretary and local MP Tim Farron taking questions from the floor ranging from Brexit to Universal Credit.

Speaking afterwards Tim said: "It was a great opportunity to speak with local businesses and I want to say a massive thanks to Vince for visiting and to the Chamber of Commerce for organising the event.

"The message that came through loud and clear from businesses was that the current uncertainty is harming their ability to plan for the future.

"Many said they felt like they were being overlooked and ignored by the Conservative Government, which is pretty alarming considering just how important these businesses are in creating jobs for local people."
