Farron Speaks In EU Debate
South Lakes MP Tim Farron today spoke in favour of the UK remaining in Europe at a debate at Kendal College.
The debate was organised by the college to help inform the students about the upcoming referendum on Britain's membership of the EU.
Tim spoke in favour of the UK remaining in Europe alongside local Conservative councillor Jim Bland. The case for Brexit was made by Harry Knowles and Adrian Rawlinson.
Tim said: "The result of the referendum will be hugely important for us all, but particularly for young people. It was great to see students at Kendal College really looking to engage with this issue, and hear the arguments on both sides of the debate.
"I have always been clear that it is in Britain's best interests to remain in Europe. In addition to the huge economic benefits of being part of the world's largest single market, the EU also gives us a means of tackling international problems in a globalised world."
