South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today said he will host a 'taste of Cumbria' event at the heart of Westminster. He plans to organise a 'Cumbria Day' in the House of Commons in the Autumn.

Tim recently praised Cumbria's food and brewing sector and called them the 'best in the UK'.

Tim will be writing to local businesses to come down to London to show off their products to MP's, Lords and the policy makers. A similar event recently organised by Northumberland was heralded by Sir Alan Beith MP as a 'success'. This news has spurred Tim to make sure one is held for Cumbria.Tim plans to invite Cumbria Tourism and local councils to help boost local tourism as well.

Commenting today Tim said, "Our food and brewing industry are incredibly lucky to have such fantastic farms, farmers and produce on their doorstep. Many of the amazing products which we eat on a daily basis and are stocked on local shelves are not well known in London. I hope that a taste of Cumbria day will help to change that."
