Farron reselected as Lib Dem candidate

30 Jul 2016

Local MP Tim Farron was unanimously reselected yesterday as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Westmorland and Lonsdale seat, in the event of an early general election.

In light of the uncertain political climate, the party has decided to select candidates in case new Prime Minister Theresa May decides to call an early election at some point in the next year.

Tim said: "It is an immense honour and privilege to serve the people of South Lakeland as their elected representative. This is the area I live in and love, and I am delighted to have been reselected as the Liberal Democrat candidate.

"Together with local people, we have achieved so much for our area. Most recently, we helped to ensure that the Kentmere Ward remains open and that mental health services are not taken away from South Lakeland. This area remains my top priority and I will do all I can to fight for a fair deal for South Lakeland."
