Farron Praises Cumbrian Businesses

22 Feb 2016

The strength of local businesses has been praised by South Lakes MP Tim Farron, after four Cumbria businesses were included in a list of the UK's fastest growing firms.

The London Stock Exchange has drawn up a list of 1000 small to medium enterprises that are expanding at an average of 50% a year. Four Cumbrian businesses are on this list including two from South Lakeland - Kendal-based turbine-maker Gilbert Gilkes and Gordon, and W. McClure, a wholesale food and drinks company in Windermere.

Tim said: "I'd like to congratulate these companies on their impressive growth. They are leaders in their sectors, and help to support high-skilled jobs which contribute to the local economy. Small and medium enterprises are the backbone of our economy both locally and nationally, and we must support these businesses so they can continue to grow."
