EU party leaders' event

South Lakes MP and Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron joined today with other party leaders to make the case for a 'Remain' vote in the upcoming European referendum.

The event, held at the Oval cricket ground, was an unprecedented cross-party show of support for the 'Remain' campaign. Tim spoke at the event to present the positive case for a 'Remain' vote. He also accused the 'Leave' campaign of using "utter, invented rubbish" to try to win over voters.

David Cameron spoke at the event for the Conservatives, whilst Natalie Bennett spoke on behalf of the Greens and Harriet Harman represented the Labour Party.

Tim said: "In just over a fortnight's time, the British people will make one of the most important decisions in a generation - whether or not we stay in Europe. This event today was about showing cross-party support for the idea that the UK is more prosperous and more secure as part of Europe. This is far more important than any one political party - this is about our future and about what sort of country we want to be. I firmly believe that Britain should remain at the heart of Europe."
