Farron encourages schools to get involved in UK Parliament Week

As schools return from their summer break, South Lakes MP Tim Farron is encouraging them to get involved in this year's UK Parliament Week.

UK Parliament Week takes place between November 14th and 20th and aims to get pupils to connect with parliament and generate a better understanding of British politics.

Tim regularly makes visits to schools around the South Lakes, but Parliament Week aims to add to that political engagement with organisations across the UK running events which explore what the UK Parliament and democracy means to them and their community.

Tim said: "It's important for young people to get an understanding of how politics and the democratic system works. UK Parliament Week is a perfect opportunity to build that knowledge while still making it fun and enjoyable.

"I love visiting schools across South Lakeland, and speaking to the students about the areas they live in and my job as their MP. It is clear from speaking to young people that they care about their communities and are interested in how politics can make a difference to them."
