Farron Calls For Public To Join Organ Donor Register
Local MP Tim Farron is calling on local people to sign up to the Organ Donor Register, as the statistics show that just 534 more sign-ups are needed to hit 35,000 donors in Westmorland and Lonsdale.
The figures show that 41.1% of local people in Westmorland and Lonsdale are on the organ donation register, which puts it in the top 15% of all English constituencies in terms of the proportion of residents on the organ donor register.
Tim is calling on local residents to continue to sign up, to hit 35,000 donors.
Organ Donation has been the key theme of Lib Dem Councillor Chris Hogg's year as Mayor of Kendal. Organ donation is an issue close to Chris' heart, as he has donated his kidney to his wife Rachael. Chris has campaigned throughout the year to increase the number of sign-ups in Kendal.
Tim said: "As a community, we can all be very proud of the number of people who have already signed up to be organ donors here in Westmorland and Lonsdale. However, it is clear that still more could be done, and I am calling on those who have not signed up to join the organ donor register today. It is quick and easy to sign up, but could transform someone's life."
