Farron - Cable coming to Kendal is a big confidence boost for the local economy
South Lakes MP Tim Farron has said that the visit of Business Secretary Vince Cable is a 'big boost' for local businesses. Tim also said the visit is a real sign that the local economy has bucked the economic trend.
Tim, South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) and Cumbria Chamber of Commerce have worked in partnership to bring together the business community at SLDC's annual dinner. Mr Cable will be the guest speaker this year. The event will take place on March 21 at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal. Mr Cable has been the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills since 2010.
Tim will be raising the issue of Cumbria's broadband roll out with Vince.
Tim said: "It's great to have Vince coming yet again to South Lakeland. I am keen to do everything I can to promote and support local business and this visit is yet another step in that campaign.
"We have fantastic businesses in our area that are leading the field in manufacturing, tourism and exports and I want us to shout this from the rooftops. However I know that local businesses still need help and bringing Vince back to our area will give businesses the chance to lobby a senior government minister."
