South Lakes MP Tim Farron has today backed the annual Manna House soup kitchen appeal.

For many years Kendal based charity Manna House have collected and distributed tinned and dried food for vulnerable people at Christmas time.

This year they are hoping to develop the service even further. They are asking local people if they could put a couple of tinned or dried goods in a box each week and keep it in their home, which they will collect and distribute in time for Christmas.

Alternatively people can drop off any donations at the Manna House box in Morrisons supermarket in Kendal.

Commenting, Tim said: "Manna House is a fantastic local charity that supports vulnerable people in our community. Having spoken to the team they are hoping to collect enough tins to not only supply Manna's soup kitchen but also to make parcels up for sheltered and supported accommodation or anyone that is struggling over Christmas. The love and compassion the team at Manna House show really does make a difference to vulnerable people at Christmas time and I am delighted to be be backing their campaign."
